Ontario's public television network, TVO, is set to close the chapter on a beloved show, The Agenda, after an impressive 19-season run. Its esteemed host, Steve Paikin, has announced plans to step back in June, coinciding with his upcoming 65th birthday.

In a heartfelt blog post, Paikin reflected on his vibrant 19-year journey with The Agenda and his 32 years total at TVO, during which he has helmed several programs. He admitted that hosting a daily show demands relentless commitment: 22Hosting a daily program is a seven-day-a-week job, and it has become clear that in order to pursue other life projects, some sacrifices must be made.22

Continuing His Legacy at TVO

Despite stepping away from daily hosting, Paikin will not be disappearing from screens entirely. He will remain engaged with TVO as co-host of the popular #onpoli podcast and contribute a weekly online column, ensuring his voice still resonates with audiences.

A New Era Begins: The Rundown

In the wake of The Agenda, TVO is excited to introduce a fresh program titled The Rundown this fall. This new show promises to tackle a single topic from multiple angles, utilizing a dynamic mix of interviews, field segments, and engaging explainer videos. TVO has yet to announce who will host the show.
