Players can now use a new currency called Favor Tokens, earned from defeating foes and completing quests, to unlock rewards in any order they choose. Accumulate up to 99 Favor Tokens and watch as items become available for just 2 to 10 Tokens each. Plus, snagging all rewards from a Reliquary earns you an exclusive bonus reward—no tokens required!

A Flexible and Affordable System!

Each Reliquary is priced less than the older battle pass model. For those looking for a comprehensive experience, Blizzard will still offer a premium battle pass bundle comprising all of a season's Reliquaries for 1,000 Platinum, keeping the price point consistent with previous passes.

Developer Insights: Why the Change?

In a recent interview, Diablo 4’s associate director of game design, Colin Finer, shed light on the shift in battle pass design. "Feedback indicated that the previous setup didn’t capture the essence of Diablo," he explained. Players felt overwhelmed by grindy rewards lacking personal relevance. Now, with the Reliquary system, Finer emphasized, "we’re putting players in the driver’s seat, allowing them to target the rewards that truly matter. We believe this aligns much better with the Diablo spirit and enhances player control."

Goodbye Smoldering Ashes, Hello Seasonal Journey!

Fans of the old battle pass will remember the seasonal power boosts offered through Smoldering Ashes, used for enhancing Season Blessings. While this system is being retired, worry not! Smoldering Ashes and Season Blessing will now integrate neatly into the Seasonal Journey framework, functioning just like before.
