Federal Government Suspends Contracts

In an official statement, Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) revealed that GHI has been temporarily barred from participating in federal contract bidding while the inquiry proceeds. This suspension was initiated after the National Post uncovered troubling details about GHI’s misrepresentation as a 'wholly Indigenous and LGBTQ Company' in two bids for federal medical supply contracts in 2020. Ironically, around the same time, Boissonnault publicly identified as “white” during an interview, despite having previously described himself as a 'non-status adopted Cree' in the House of Commons.

Boissonnault's Resignation

Adding to the fire, Boissonnault resigned from his cabinet position last week as controversy mounted over his changing statements regarding his Indigenous ancestry and his connection to GHI and his former business partner, Stephen Anderson.

Duration of Suspension

The PSPC noted that this suspension will remain in effect for a minimum of 90 days but can be extended depending on the outcome of the investigation. Currently, GHI holds just one active contract with Elections Canada; however, the agency confirmed that a 'full stop-work' order was issued on the same day Boissonnault stepped down from his cabinet role.

According to the PSPC, Elections Canada reported that no deliverables have been received and no payments processed against this contract, which did not include any 'Indigenous set-aside requirement.'
