Celebrating a Milestone Year for Amexon’s Residences at Central Park
As 2024 unfolds, Amexon Development Corporation is garnering accolades for its impressive Residences at Central Park, a master-planned community stretching over 12 acres in North York’s sought-after Bayview Village area. This ambitious project has achieved significant milestones well beyond construction boundaries, crucially positioning it as a leader in urban development.
One striking feature that has gained widespread recognition is the Central Park Sales Pavilion. Designed by Core Architects and featuring innovative interiors by II BY IV DESIGN, this 10,000 square-foot pavilion was awarded the BILD Award for Best Presentation Centre this year. Its distinct architecture, characterized by angled steel ribs and expansive glass walls, floods the space with natural light and exemplifies sustainable building practices. The pavilion is not only a visual treat but also integrates a green roof and energy-efficient lighting—a testament to eco-friendly design.
Looking forward, the pavilion is set to transition into a vibrant community venue, hosting concerts, exhibitions, and cultural events. “The Presentation Gallery is designed to foster connections and inspire creativity,” explains Ashling Evans, General Manager of Real Estate at Amexon, highlighting the site’s future as a vibrant community hub.
Revolutionizing Electric Vehicle Infrastructure
One of the standout features propelling Central Park into the spotlight is its groundbreaking electric vehicle infrastructure, the first of its kind in North America for large-scale residential developments. Each of the 1,500 parking spaces is equipped with dedicated EV chargers, part of a $10 to $12 million investment aimed at future-proofing against the growing shift towards electric vehicles. In partnership with Toronto Hydro, this innovative amenity incorporates smart metering and app-based payment systems, ensuring convenience for residents while promoting environmental sustainability.
“The availability of EV charging has become a critical factor for many homebuyers,” emphasizes Evans, signifying the community's commitment to meeting the evolving demands of modern living.
Awards and Industry Recognition
Central Park has also captured the prestigious IPAX Americas Property Award for Best Sustainable Residential Development in Canada—a commendation that underscores the project’s commitment to sustainability and innovative practices. This award, presented in Los Angeles, marks a significant achievement for the development, which has previously been nominated for the BILD Green Builder of the Year and recognized as Project of the Year (People’s Choice) by the Ontario Home Builders' Association.
In addition to its robust environmental initiatives, Central Park incorporates thousands of native trees and shrubs, promoting biodiversity and enhancing the site’s connection to nature.
A Harmonious Blend of Transit, Nature, and Community
Designed with a focus on blending urban living with nature, the community’s layout mirrors the nearby East Don Parkland, featuring organic architectural motifs and expansive glass facades that bring the outdoors in. This pedestrian-friendly design ensures that residents enjoy lush green spaces and seamless connectivity. Further contributing to its appeal, the community is ideally situated just a stone's throw from Leslie subway station and the relocated Oriole GO station, positioning residents for quick commutes across Toronto.
Looking ahead, the proposed Sheppard Subway Extension promises to enhance transportation links, connecting residents to broader regions, including Scarborough Centre. “We meticulously planned to ensure that the infrastructure elevates the lifestyle potential of Central Park,” states Evans, reflecting the development’s commitment to a holistic living experience.
As construction progresses into 2025, the achievements of 2024 have firmly established the Residences at Central Park as a pivotal example of sustainable, community-centric urban living. Stay tuned as more exciting updates from this pioneering project unfold!
