Canadian Public Health Week: Honoring Our Unsung Heroes!

From April 7-11, 2025, Canada shines a spotlight on Public Health Week, a vital initiative that acknowledges the tireless efforts of public health professionals dedicated to enhancing our well-being. This year, the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) is thrilled to highlight the remarkable contributions of health workers across communities, starting with the inspiring Lovely Casbadillo in the Sahtu Region!

Lovely Casbadillo: A Beacon of Hope in Sahtu!

As a Regional Community Health Nurse specializing in Public Health, Lovely Casbadillo plays a crucial role in supporting health services throughout the enchanting Sahtu Region, which includes vibrant communities like Norman Wells, Tulita, Deline, Fort Good Hope, and Colville Lake. With a deep commitment to public health, she actively aids communities in overcoming outbreaks, champions immunization efforts, and ensures that residents stay informed on the latest health recommendations from the Territorial Public Health Office.

From the Philippines to the North: A Journey of Passion!

Originally hailing from the Philippines, Lovely has embraced the beauty of the Northwest Territories for over four years. She fondly reminisces about her instant connection to the region's stunning landscapes, mesmerizing aurora borealis, the simplicity of everyday life, and, most importantly, the warmth of its people. When she’s not dedicating herself to public health, Lovely pursues her passions for plant collecting, needlework, cross-stitching, and beading. She enjoys tranquil riverside walks with her beloved dog, soaking in the natural splendor that surrounds her.

Celebrating Our Health Guardians!

Let's take a moment to thank Lovely Casbadillo for her unwavering commitment and invaluable contributions to the health of the Sahtu communities! Her dedication is a reminder of the incredible work public health professionals do every day, often going unrecognized. During this Public Health Week, let’s honor heroes like Lovely who strive to make our communities healthier and happier!
