"We spoke about this before the game and during the intermissions. It’s an area we need to improve," he noted.

Among the bright spots was Pontus Holmberg, who impressively managed his responsibilities on the penalty kill. Berube praised Holmberg's intelligence and skill on the ice, saying, "He understands his role well and has shown great proficiency in penalty killing throughout the camp."

As the team prepares for their next challenge against the New Jersey Devils, Berube mentioned the possibility of starting goaltender Anthony Stolarz again. "We need to discuss that and decide," he stated, reflecting on Stolarz's solid performance, which many considered key in keeping the game competitive.

Teammate Max Pacioretty shared a positive assessment of the team's effort: "We had numerous chances and played well. We just need to capitalize on those opportunities. It's about getting that puck in the back of the net."

Auston Matthews weighed in on the game, expressing a combination of disappointment and optimism. "We did enough to score, but the puck just didn’t bounce our way. There were a lot of positives we can build on as we move forward," he said.

Stolarz himself commended his fellow goaltender, Dennis Hildeby, hinting at the potential for Hildeby's debut soon. "He has shown tremendous promise in the preseason. If he gets the chance, he can definitely excel," Stolarz remarked.
