In a troubling incident of voyeurism that has left the Vaughan community reeling, York Regional Police are on the hunt for a male suspect who is allegedly involved in a disturbing behavior that unfolded at Vaughan Mills mall earlier this month.
What Happened?
Just before 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, a man allegedly followed a parent and child into the public washroom at Vaughan Mills, located near Jane Street and Rutherford Road. While the child was using the facilities, the suspect reportedly stood beside them, watching for an unsettling amount of time.
The Eerie Escape
As soon as the parent became aware of the man's presence, he bolted from the scene. Thankfully, authorities confirmed that the child was unharmed during this alarming encounter.
Caught on Camera!
Video surveillance footage revealed the same suspect lounging on the floor outside the washroom, with his cell phone plugged into the wall—further raising suspicions about his intentions.
Who Are the Other Victims?
Investigation shows the suspect had previously tracked three other children, who were also with a parent, into the same washroom. Police believe these victims had no idea they were being followed.
Description of the Suspect
The suspect is described as an Asian male, aged between 20 and 25. At the time of the incident, he was seen wearing a distinctive green-and-black jacket, a blue T-shirt, and black pants, along with a black backpack.
