In a significant step towards promoting health equity, culturally specific Black health and wellness immunization clinics are set to open in Halifax and Dartmouth, allowing those of African descent to receive vaccinations in environments that feel comfortable and respectful. These clinics are designed to foster trust and accessibility within the community.

No appointments are necessary for these clinics, making it easy for individuals to drop in. While the services are tailored to culturally specific needs, all community members are encouraged to receive care.

Next week, the following clinics will be operating in the Central Zone:
1. New Horizons Baptist Church

- 5457 Nora Bernard St., Halifax - Date: Tuesday, November 26 - Time: 1 p.m. – 6 p.m.

2. New Beginnings Ministries

- Enhanced influenza vaccines specifically for those 65 and older
- Pneumococcal vaccines for seniors and individuals with high-risk health conditions
- COVID-19 and influenza testing

In a commitment to inclusivity, interpretation services will be available at these clinics. Additionally, the clinics on November 26 and 29 will also provide blood pressure testing.

For those planning to attend, please remember:

- All vaccines and testing are free for eligible individuals.
- Bring your health card, if you have one.
- Dress warmly, as waiting may require some time outdoors.
- Clinics may be subject to cancellation due to inclement weather.
- Masks are mandatory in vaccination settings, but a mask will be provided upon arrival.

This initiative is part of Nova Scotia's broader efforts to address disparities in healthcare access and improve overall health outcomes for marginalized communities. Further information and updates on additional clinics can be found at www.nshealth.ca/Black-Public-Health.
