In a recent discussion on Twitter/X, wrestling analyst Ibou from WrestlePurists.com expressed his thoughts on MJF's current trajectory in AEW. He suggested that MJF's run in the promotion might be reaching its natural conclusion, stating, "This is neither a positive nor negative statement, but I think MJF’s AEW run is beginning to reach a natural conclusion, and neither side has really realized it yet."
Ibou elaborated that while MJF remains an incredibly talented performer at the peak of his career, there's a sense that both he and AEW might be outgrowing one another. "I struggle to come up with many things on the horizon for him to do that would be productive or big," he noted. He pointed out that MJF seems to be concentrating on his acting career, which could detract from his wrestling activities. The comparison to a legendary Ric Flair run in WWF during 1993 was drawn, with Ibou stating that Flair was active but still found himself in a position that didn’t maximize his talent.
Dustin Rhodes, veteran wrestler and part of the AEW roster, was quick to respond to this commentary. He acknowledged the possibility that MJF’s pursuits outside of wrestling could indeed play a role in shaping his future with AEW. "Max is a talent like no other, and his focus might be shifting, but that just opens doors for new stories," Rhodes mentioned, hinting at the constantly evolving landscape of professional wrestling.
Moreover, Rhodes shared his belief in the stability of the AEW brand itself, forecasting that the company would continue to thrive regardless of individual stars coming and going. "Wrestling has so many layers, and new talents are always emerging. It’s the nature of the business."
As discussions around MJF's future in AEW intensify, fans are left speculating if this dynamic wrestler is on the brink of transitioning into a new phase, either within the promotion or into a flourishing arena of acting and entertainment. Whatever the outcome, one thing is certain: MJF's legacy will endure long past any chapter in his career.
