Timmins – Great news for residents managing diabetes in the area!

As of December 2, the Timmins and District Hospital's Diabetes Education Centre has officially moved to a new location just across the street on Ross Avenue East, making it more accessible to the community.

Each month, around 150 individuals, including both adults and children, rely on this vital facility for diabetes management. With diabetes affecting millions, the symptoms arise when the body either doesn't produce enough insulin or fails to use the insulin produced effectively. Fortunately, the newly relocated centre provides crucial support for those struggling with type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes.

Manager Lorna Green expressed enthusiasm about the transition: “We look forward to welcoming patients to our new location and continuing to provide the support they need to manage their diabetes effectively.” This move is more than a change of scenery; it reflects the Timmins and District Hospital's dedication to improving patient experience and overall care.

Kate Fyfe, the hospital's president and CEO, emphasized the commitment to patient-centered care. “At TADH, we are focused on providing exemplary care to Northerners. Our dedicated team of health care professionals will continue to offer comprehensive services, including education, management programs, and regular screenings, ensuring that our patients receive the highest level of care in our new location.”

With increased support and upgraded facilities, patients can expect enhanced services and resources designed to help them lead healthier lives.
