Get ready, Vancouver craft beer enthusiasts!

A groundbreaking new brewery collective is taking shape in East Vancouver, and it promises to be a game-changer for the local beer scene. Imagine three iconic brewing companies joining forces like the legendary “Three Musketeers” - that's exactly what's happening at the newly renamed Threefold Brewing.

Located at 1507 Powell St, in the former Andina Brewing space, this innovative establishment is the brainchild of owners from three well-respected Vancouver breweries: Slow Hand Beer Company, Temporal Artisan Ales, and Boombox Brewing. According to co-owner Matt Kump, this merger is all about collaboration, skill-sharing, and creating a vibrant taproom experience.

"The three breweries have been active since the mid-2010s, and they each bring a wealth of knowledge and passion for craft beer to the table," Kump shared. Each brewery will maintain its distinct identity while benefiting from shared resources, which Kump believes is crucial given the challenges of finding affordable brewing space in the city.

“It’s just been impossible in this city [to find space to grow]. This opportunity kind of came to us earlier this year,” Kump explained, highlighting the ongoing struggles small brewers face in a competitive real estate market. Fortunately, the synergy among these producers allows them to flourish together.

A Unique Taproom Experience Awaits!

Although brewing has already commenced, the taproom is undergoing an extensive renovation. Kump aims to create a warm, inviting atmosphere, inspired by a late-70s, early-80s hi-fi aesthetic—perfect for relaxed gatherings with friends and beer aficionados alike. Expect an eclectic vibe with touches from each participating brewery, designed to make everyone feel right at home.

Threefold Brewing is set to officially open its doors in February 2025, and its promising food program will complement the brewery's unique beer offerings. Kump teased that the restaurant-style menu will focus on accessibility and simplicity, ensuring patrons can enjoy their meals without excessive deliberation.

And that’s not all! The collective has grand plans for engaging events, ranging from pop-up kitchens featuring guest chefs to special beer pairing nights that will tantalize your taste buds. What's more, Kump mentioned that the breweries are looking to take their collaborations global, with exciting discussions already underway with brewers from the U.S., Japan, and Belgium.

As this new chapter in East Vancouver's craft beer landscape unfolds, keep your eyes peeled for updates from Threefold Brewing. This venture is poised to be a haven for craft beer lovers and a cornerstone of the community. Cheers to new beginnings and amazing brews! 🍻
