Exciting New Loot Plans for ‘Destiny 2’: Shiny Weapons and Armor to Enhance Your Gameplay!

As the gaming community continues to dive deep into the expansive universe of "Destiny 2," players have expressed a growing frustration over the game's loot mechanics, particularly the lack of excitement in pursuing rare items.

Reflecting on the original "Onslaught" model, it's clear that the thrill of the chase has waned significantly. What made the original Onslaught so engaging was not just the volume of loot but the unique "shinies" that became coveted treasures among players.

In the early days, "shiny" weapons were easy to recognize: they dropped infrequently and boasted masterwork status, double perks for enhanced gameplay, and attractive cosmetic overlays that differentiated them from standard drops. Importantly, while these shinies were desirable, they were not essential for success, often serving as a luxury rather than a necessity.

Recently, Bungie made a half-hearted attempt to revive this excitement with the seasonal "Revenant" weapons, which also included double perks and masterworking. However, these shinies have proven exceptionally rare—I've encountered only two during countless hours of play, and they lack any unique cosmetic appeal.

Here’s My Vision for Future Loot Upgrades:

1. **Introduction of Double Perks:** Ensuring that the unique mechanics of shinies are preserved with dual perks to maximize player customization and efficiency.

2. **Visually Distinct Thumbnails and Shader Effects:** These cosmetic changes would add a layer of excitement, making players excited to showcase their unique finds.

3. **Increased Drop Rates:** Restore the thrill of obtaining shinies with drop rates akin to the original Onslaught—making the hunt enjoyable and rewarding again.

4. **Guaranteed Drops for Specific Challenges:** Successfully finishing a challenging milestone, such as a 50-wave Onslaught, should guarantee a shiny drop, adding a clear goal to gameplay.

5. **Fully Masterworked and Enhanced Drops:** Weapons should dot the loot pool fully masterworked, sparing players from needing extra Ascendant Alloy—a minor convenience with significant quality of life.

But why stop at weapons? Armor should also follow suit:

- **Superior Base Stats:** Every piece of armor should have a minimum stat above 62, ensuring players aren’t stuck with low-quality gear.

- **Fully Masterworked without Extra Costs:** Players deserve armor that is ready for action without requiring investment in upgrades.

- **Cosmetic Distinctions to Armor:** Although perhaps not shader effects, unique emblem designs or subtle flourishes on armor sets would create a sense of identity and appreciation for these drops.

The focus should remain on fun, not pure power. Introducing this unique armor and weapon system wouldn’t disrupt game balance but rather reinforce the joy of collecting and wearing your hard-earned loot.

Plus, as Bungie continues evolving toward crafted weapons in future seasons, these shinies could remain as valued, alternative options.

This proposed revamp may evolve as new "Frontiers" gear sets emerge, but many of these concepts could seamlessly integrate into the existing framework, providing players with a refreshing experience.
