In a remarkable update from the Haliburton Kawartha Northumberland Peterborough Public Health Unit, it has been confirmed that the Haliburton region remains untouched by Ontario's ongoing measles outbreak. During a recent board meeting, Dr. Thomas Piggott, the medical officer of health, assured that there have been no confirmed local cases.

However, the situation in the rest of Ontario is starkly different. Dr. Piggott revealed that there have been a staggering 816 confirmed measles cases across the province since last fall, highlighting a concerning trend driven primarily by declining vaccination rates.
