In a shocking incident over the weekend, comedy legend Jay Leno found himself "all black and blue" following a fall down a steep 60-foot hill while heading out for dinner. The 74-year-old former host of “The Tonight Show” suffered considerable bruising on the left side of his face during the mishap, requiring medical attention.

Leno, sporting a patch over his swollen left eye, recounted the frightening fall to reporters ahead of his performance in Beverly Hills on Monday night. The accident occurred while he was staying at a Hampton Inn approximately 30 miles outside of Pittsburgh. Leno had just finished a show and was navigating to a nearby restaurant when he decided to take a shortcut down the hill, believing it wouldn't be too steep.

"I thought, 'The hill doesn’t look that steep – about 60, 70 feet. Let me see if I can get down there…'" Leno described the moment humorously, adding that as he tumbled he exclaimed, "boom, boom, boom," colliding with several rocks along the way.

Despite the serious injuries, including a broken wrist and a lost fingernail, Leno’s indomitable spirit shone through as he went on to perform just three hours later. He received medical treatment only after returning home to Los Angeles. “It isn’t a big deal, it’s alright,” he reassured fans, showcasing his characteristic resilience.

This incident adds to a string of unfortunate events for Leno over the past few years. In November 2022, he suffered severe burns to his face and body while working on a vehicle in his garage, requiring extensive treatment at the Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles. Barely months after recovering from the burns, Leno was involved in a motorcycle accident that left him with a broken collarbone, cracked ribs, and fractured kneecaps.

When asked by TMZ about his run of bad luck, Leno poignantly remarked, “The great thing about this age is that you don’t learn by your mistakes – you just keep doing the same stupid things.” This resilience and humor in the face of adversity are what makes Jay Leno a beloved figure in the entertainment industry.

Next up, Leno is set to take the stage again at a charity event for the same burn hospital that aided him during his recovery. Stay tuned as this iconic figure continues to inspire with his courage and comedic flair!
