Jimmy Carter, better known as James Earl Carter Jr., spent over 80 of his 100 years in and around Plains, a town of fewer than 700 residents. Unlike other modern presidents such as Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton, Carter chose to remain in his birth town after his presidency, emphasizing his commitment to his roots.

As the motorcade moves through downtown Plains, it will pass significant locations, including the home of his wife, Rosalynn, who passed away in November 2023, and the couple’s family peanut warehouses.
