As the 2025 NFL Draft approached, no prospect captured attention quite like Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders. But not everyone is on board with the scrutiny he's faced—especially former Colorado quarterback Joel Klatt.

Just moments before the draft kicked off, Klatt boldly defended Sanders, critiquing the wave of negative narratives surrounding him. "Shedeur embodies everything I can’t stand about the NFL Draft—especially the lazy and frankly ridiculous narratives," Klatt asserted.

He slammed anonymous sources who criticize Sanders based on personal biases, stating, "It's trash when someone claims a kid didn’t measure up to their expectations in a meeting. Shedeur is poised to be a great quarterback in the NFL!" Klatt emphasized, "He’s already proven himself under immense pressure, especially guiding a Colorado program that had been struggling for years before his arrival."

Klatt isn’t alone in his defense. Media personalities like Kay Adams have also stood by Sanders, questioning the backlash he faced for wearing a hoodie during an interview. Kyle Brandt echoed these concerns, expressing frustration over anonymous critics.

Critics have pointed out aspects of Sanders’ game, like his tendency to hold on to the ball too long, a concern highlighted by Dan Orlovsky. ESPN's Marcus Spears even compared his athleticism to that of Geno Smith, raising more eyebrows.

However, Klatt firmly believes the real issue is the anonymous nature of the criticism aimed at Sanders’ personality. "If you have something to say, own it!" Klatt challenged, urging critics to put their names behind their claims.

With so much noise surrounding Sanders, one thing remains clear: he’s set to take the NFL by storm, and many are ready to see him shine.
