On a challenging day marked by dry and fast course conditions, Thomas fired a solid 3-under 68, showcasing precision with a key 25-foot birdie putt on the 16th. The excitement intensified as Novak, a South Carolina native, responded with his own impressive finish, matching Thomas's score with a 68.

With both players finishing at 17-under 267, followed closely by a pack of contenders, Novak faced a pivotal moment on the 18th hole. Despite a chance to win in regulation with an 8-foot birdie, he fell short, setting the stage for Thomas's playoff heroics.

In the playoff, Novak's lengthy putt from just inside 35 feet slipped by, leaving the door wide open for Thomas. With poise and confidence, Thomas delivered a stunning putt, celebrating joyfully as the ball dropped into the hole. As he savored his victory, Thomas reflected on the challenges of winning, remarking, "Winning is hard. It’s really, really hard. Novak, who had previous near-wins this season, took pride in his performance despite the disappointment of coming up short against Thomas. "I feel like I did a lot of good things. I’m pretty proud of putting myself in that position," he said, underscoring the competitive spirit of the sport.
