In a bold political move, Vice President Kamala Harris is set to criticize her Republican adversary, Donald Trump, during an event in Pennsylvania on Monday night. This comes in response to Trump’s recent comments on Fox News about handling what he called “the enemy from within” this Election Day, as relayed by a senior Harris campaign official.

As the 2024 presidential race enters its final stretch, Harris is sharpening her contrast with Trump, framing him as a perilous and unstable choice for voters by leveraging his own statements and those made by individuals who once worked alongside him.

During his Fox News appearance, Trump expressed a lack of concern about the actions of his supporters on Election Day but emphasized a greater issue regarding internal threats. He remarked, "I think the bigger problem is the enemy from within. We have some very bad people. We have some sick people. Radical left lunatics."

Harris aims to draw attention to the implications of Trump’s rhetoric, warning that such statements might jeopardize citizens’ freedoms. As part of her campaign strategy, she will unveil a new advertisement titled “Enemy Within,” showcasing Trump’s repeated references to this phrase throughout his campaign, alongside commentary from former aides Olivia Troye and Kevin Carroll.

In the advertisement, Troye recalls concerning days in the Trump administration, stating, "I do remember the day that he suggested that we shoot people on the streets." Carroll adds a chilling warning: "The second term would be worse. There will be no one to stop his worst instincts. Unchecked power. No guardrails. If we elect Trump again, we’re in terrible danger."

To amplify her message, Harris will also showcase the nature of Trump’s rallies to attendees in Erie, suggesting that watching these events can reveal the true face of Trump. In previous remarks, she noted the bizarre elements of his speeches, including references to fictional characters like Hannibal Lecter and outlandish claims like “windmills cause cancer.” Harris argued that many attendees leave his rallies early, expressing their fatigue and disinterest.

The Harris campaign has recently involved prominent Republicans, including former Wyoming Representative Liz Cheney, to highlight Trump's attempts to reverse the 2020 election results and the actions of his supporters during the January 6 Capitol riot. Just last week, Harris rolled out an advertisement in North Carolina that featured snippets from a campaign event with Cheney.

The narration in the ad underscores a broad consensus across the political spectrum: “Former generals, secretaries of defense, secretaries of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, CIA directors, and National Security Council leaders under both Democratic and Republican administrations agree: There’s only one candidate fit to lead our nation, and that’s Kamala Harris.”
