Time is running out for four lovable furry friends hoping to find their forever homes before the Airdrie location of the Alberta Pound & Rescue Centres (APARC) shuts its doors for good.
With only a few days left until the closure on March 31st, the spotlight is on these precious animals: Raven, the sole dog, and three charming cats—Maestro, Julius Caesar, and Alex.
According to Tara Wingenbach, the animal service coordinator and co-manager at APARC Airdrie, all four pets have been longing for a family to call their own.
Raven has been at the shelter for an astonishing 146 days, while Maestro has waited an incredible 283 days! Meanwhile, Alex and Julius Caesar have been there for 135 and 224 days, respectively.
Wingenbach expressed her deep empathy for these pets, stating, "They deserve a forever home," and wished she could adopt them all herself, though her own home is already full.
Animal lovers are encouraged to open their hearts and homes to these furry companions.
For those interested in adoption, you can access detailed bios of each pet and further information by visiting www.aparc.ca or calling 403-768-0274 ext. 2.
If no one steps forward to adopt these animals before the end of March, they will be relocated to different shelters, which is a situation that Wingenbach and the rest of the staff are desperate to avoid.
"It's our hope to see them placed in loving homes before we close our doors," she added.
The closure of APARC is due to the City of Airdrie's decision not to extend its contract with the organization, leaving stray dogs to be housed in a non-public facility.
Fortunately, the City has promised "minimal disruption" during this transition, though a long-term alternative for shelter services has yet to be established.
In a bid to ease the transition, Tails to Tell Animal Rescue in Crossfield is collaborating with Airdrie's city officials to temporarily care for stray cats.
Residents who find stray cats are urged to reach out to the shelter ahead of time.
This is your last chance to make a difference in the lives of these four deserving pets!
