In a shocking turn of events, local construction company TIL-KA Construction Inc. is appealing the suspension of its license to build new homes after the Home Construction Regulatory Authority (HCRA) claimed the company failed to meet essential licensing standards.
For nearly a decade, TIL-KA has been a trusted builder, holding its license since 2013. However, recent disputes have thrown the company into turmoil. Jered Zieroth, a key director at TIL-KA, vehemently disagrees with the HCRA's allegations, stating, "We filed an appeal a week ago, and we are going through that process. We believe our findings contradict their claims."
The controversy stems from the HCRA's discovery during the company's annual license renewal. They noted that a former director, who possessed required competencies, was no longer part of the team. As a result, the HCRA alleges that TIL-KA lacks seven essential competencies.
Despite the HCRA's conditional license renewal and compliance deadlines, Zieroth insists TIL-KA has the qualifications needed to operate. The appeal process is ongoing, leaving the company in a bind—it can’t construct new homes, but thankfully can continue its renovation and commercial projects, which remain outside the HCRA’s jurisdiction.
This case is stirring up tension in the local construction community, making it a compelling story to watch as TIL-KA fights to reclaim its position in the housing market. Will their appeal turn the tide, or will the regulatory body hold firm in its decision? Stay tuned for updates!
