Jeff’s Health Journey

Jeff, a vibrant local raised in North Bay, faced life’s toughest challenges when he suffered not one, but two heart attacks in his mid-twenties. Undeterred, he leaned on the support of his family and the health services available in the area to recover. Jeff embraced life again, marrying his fiancée and raising two beautiful children. However, just when he thought he had conquered his health battles, disaster struck again.

A Stroke and Urgent Care

“I was in the middle of responding to emails at work when I suddenly couldn't type and found it hard to form a sentence,” Jeff recalled, revealing that he was having a stroke. The urgency of the situation led him to the North Bay Regional Health Centre Emergency Department, where a critical CT scan confirmed the troubling news.

Lifesaving Technology

“Thanks to the lifesaving technology at NBRHC, I was given a fighting chance. Swift treatment significantly improves survival rates while enhancing recovery outcomes and reducing complications. That’s exactly the kind of treatment I was fortunate to receive,” Jeff stated gratefully.

After receiving exceptional care, Jeff made a full recovery and returned to enjoying life with his family and pursuing his passion for endurance sports. Nonetheless, navigating this health journey means ongoing health monitoring and regular visits to the hospital.

Community Funding Needs

“I am optimistic about having more tests locally in the future, but that largely depends on our community's ability to fund crucial equipment at NBRHC,” Jeff explained.

Nuclear Medicine Department

The Nuclear Medicine Department at NBRHC plays a pivotal role in diagnosing critical health issues using SPECT/CT machines. These advanced devices conduct stress tests for various conditions, including heart disease, cancers, and neurological disorders like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
