Since its debut in 2011, Apple's Siri has faced criticism for its limitations and has often been overshadowed by more advanced competitors like OpenAI's ChatGPT and Google Gemini. However, recent reports suggest that Apple is primed for a significant transformation of its digital assistant, targeting a complete overhaul within the next two years. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple plans to update Siri in stages, with the most immediate change being the integration of ChatGPT functionalities set to roll out in December 2023. This initial update is referred to as a “band-aid,” designed to temporarily enhance Siri's performance while giving Apple time to perfect its own AI framework.

Looking ahead, Gurman indicates that Apple is gearing up for a major unveiling of its revamped Siri engine at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2025. This event is highly anticipated as it promises to showcase how Apple will elevate Siri to new heights, moving beyond basic voice recognition to a more interactive and intelligent personal assistant.
