Meta is currently addressing a critical issue stemming from a recent software update that rendered some Quest 2, Quest 3, and Quest 3S headsets nearly unusable. Initially, many customers expressed frustration not just at the faulty update but also when Meta announced that they wouldn't be addressing the concerns for products that were out of warranty, as highlighted by The Verge.

Rising backlash prompted the tech giant to reverse course, and they've now announced that they are working on a fix that will be available to “all users". The company revealed that customer support teams have received updated protocols to assist affected customers. Many users took to Reddit, sharing that they received confirmation emails stating that Meta would offer out-of-warranty service in light of their mishap.

In a recent post on their help center, Meta admitted, “We've discovered a software update issue that caused some Quest 2/3/3S headsets to be unresponsive and unable to start up correctly. We are actively working on resolving the issue for all users, but in most cases, you are now able to use your device normally. If you have a device that is still unresponsive, we're here to help."

This annoying predicament began around December 6th, when Meta first acknowledged that the software updates were impacting the performance of Quest 3S devices. The updates aimed to enhance the user experience with features such as a virtual desktop, faster hand tracking, and simplified pairing with Windows 11 PCs.

If you or someone you know is facing these issues, it's essential to reach out to Meta for support! The company is responding to these challenges, and help is on the way for all affected users.

Stay tuned for updates as Meta strives to rectify the situation and ensure that user experience is once again at the forefront of their products!
