An NBA executive, speaking anonymously, expressed deep reservations, stating, "They took a considerable step backwards. Julius is a really good offensive player, but he lacks the floor-spacing ability that KAT brought to the Timberwolves." Towns, a versatile big man, averaged 21.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists last season while shooting a remarkable 41.6% from beyond the three-point line. His prowess as a shooter has earned him accolades, including being crowned the 2022 3-point champion.
