The latest case was identified in Taber, a town located 51 kilometers east of Lethbridge, and is linked to a visitor who arrived at Calgary International Airport from Toronto on March 8.

Upon arriving in Calgary, the individual reportedly rented a car and made their way to Taber. Between March 8 and March 13, this person visited several locations in the town, including the emergency department of the local health center. This raises significant alarm for public health officials, especially given that measles is highly contagious.

In light of this outbreak, Alberta Health Services is urging anyone born after 1970 who has not received two doses of the measles vaccine to be vigilant for symptoms, which can include high fever, cough, runny nose, and a distinctive rash. Those potentially exposed are encouraged to monitor their health closely, and to consult a healthcare provider if they develop symptoms.
