Emergency Response Details

In the event of a medical emergency, individuals requiring an ambulance should dial 911. If you suspect a serious health issue, it is advised to visit your nearest emergency department. For those uncertain about needing emergency care, contacting the 811 HealthLine is recommended for guidance.

The Advantage of Virtual ERs

The Virtual ERs have been designed to maintain emergency care availability 24/7. During the operational hours of a Virtual ER, patients can visit the emergency departments as usual, where they will encounter healthcare professionals on-site alongside a physician or nurse practitioner available via video connection. This innovative service model ensures that residents receive timely medical attention even during staffing challenges.

Additionally, NL Health Services has established a Health Hub for residents with non-emergent medical concerns and those without a family physician. Health Hub clinics are operational Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., contingent upon physician availability. For contact, residents can reach the Gander Medical Clinic at 709-381-0112 or 709-381-0338 and the Killick Clinic in Grand Falls-Windsor at 709-292-8404. It's important to note that patients should be prepared for increased wait times for both physical and virtual appointments.

24/7 Support Through 811 HealthLine

The 811 HealthLine remains available round-the-clock, offering medical advice, health information, and mental health crisis support. Virtual nurse practitioner appointments are often available within three days.
