PNW Components Unveils Stunning Anodized Silver Stanchion Seatpost – A Game Changer in MTB Gear!

2024-09-30

Silver is making a dazzling comeback in the cycling world

and leading the charge is PNW Components with their stunning new anodized dropper post. The trend is reflected in many professional bikes, where silver hubs, spokes, and rims have become increasingly prominent. But PNW has taken this revival to the next level, offering an all-silver anodized seatpost that combines aesthetics with durability.

Creating a hard-anodized silver stanchion posed a unique set of challenges.

The process they utilized, known as type-3 hard anodizing, provides a robust and precise coating that is 2-3 times thicker than the more commonly used type-2 anodizing. Type-2 is typically applied to static components like stems, while the dynamic requirements of moving parts like forks and dropper posts necessitate the additional thickness of type-3 anodizing. This complexity is why we often see stanchions in tried-and-true black rather than vibrant colors.

In collaboration with specialized anodizing partners, PNW devoted months to developing this innovative type-3 hard anodized silver coating.

Their rigorous testing included cycling the seatpost through a mud bath tens of thousands of times to ascertain its wear resistance and longevity.

The silver finish will be available for a limited time on PNW's popular Loam and Rainier models.

The Loam offers an array of choices, with diameters of 30.9 and 31.6 mm, as well as travel options of 150, 170, and 200 mm. Meanwhile, the Rainier caters to the XC and gravel biking community with a 27.2 mm diameter and travel of 100 or 125 mm. Pricing is quite competitive, with the Loam at $219 and the Rainier at $209, both without remote controls.

For those concerned about weight, the quoted weight for the Silver Rainier is between 412 g and 450 g depending on the chosen travel.

While the specific weight for the Silver Loam Dropper hasn't been disclosed, PNW has indicated that the standard black model weighs between 504 g to 576 g, varying with travel length.

With this innovative anodized silver dropper post,

PNW Components not only taps into a nostalgic trend but also provides cyclists with a robust, eye-catching, yet practical component for their rides. As the cycling community eagerly awaits further developments, this new release is sure to spark excitement among mountain bikers and gravel enthusiasts alike.
