Remembering Robert S. Crosbie: A Legacy of Love and Leadership

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Robert S. "Rob" Crosbie, CM, LL.D, ICD.D, on April 18, 2025, at the age of 67.

Rob leaves behind a legacy of love as a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He is survived by his wife Liz, with whom he shared over 50 years of life, his son Andrew, siblings Alex, Tim, and Cynthia, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and cherished friends—all of whom were touched by his kindness.

His zest for life was boundless, from snowmobiling in the mountains to playing water polo across the globe. As Chair of Crosbie, Rob upheld a proud family legacy, embodying integrity and compassion while leading with a heart full of responsibility for both his company and his beloved Newfoundland and Labrador.

Rob's remarkable contributions to the community earned him prestigious accolades including the Order of Canada in 2018, an honorary doctorate from Memorial University, and induction into the Newfoundland and Labrador Business Hall of Fame. He was also honored as Ernst & Young's Atlantic Canada Entrepreneur of the Year.

Known for his warmth and wisdom, Rob's impact was felt by all. He was a beacon of generosity, always striving to do what was right and encouraging others to build a better future.

The family expresses sincere gratitude to the healthcare professionals at the Health Sciences Centre and Kidney Care Centre for their unwavering support and kindness. They also thank the Crosbie Group of Companies—an extended family that Rob was proud to lead.

Visitation will be held at Carnell's Funeral Home on Freshwater Road on Tuesday, April 22, and Wednesday, April 23, from 2:00–4:00 PM and 6:00–8:00 PM.

A funeral service will take place at St. Thomas’ Anglican Church on Thursday, April 24, at 11:00 AM. Following a private burial, the family invites everyone to join them for a reception, with details to be announced. Please check Carnell's website for updates.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Rob's memory to the Kidney Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Young Adult Cancer Canada, Nature Conservancy of Canada, or your charity of choice.
