In a stunning revelation, Mina Caputo, the renowned lead vocalist of the alternative metal band Life of Agony, has announced plans to "lovingly live" in their "divine male self" starting January 2025. The 50-year-old musician, who became a prominent figure in the LGBTQ+ community after coming out as transgender in 2011, shared the news through a heartfelt video on Instagram on November 19.
Caputo has disclosed that they have been off hormone therapy for the last six to seven years and is set to undergo surgery to remove implants in order to embrace their authentic identity. "Yes, I'm off of hormones for six, seven years now. My surgery has been booked to remove my fake breasts, and I will be lovingly living in my divine male self," Caputo stated.
Reflecting on their journey, Caputo expressed that they have experienced significant challenges along the way. "I've cured my gender dysphoria. It took many years and a lot of walking through the fire, but I rose above my misunderstandings of my soul and my spirit," they shared.
In the video, Caputo spoke candidly about the intense side effects of hormone therapy and the extensive trauma work they've undertaken, including plant medicine therapy. The artist addressed critics who have commented on their appearance, asserting, "I am a man, I always was a man." They stressed the importance of authenticity, stating, "Real transsexuals own their authenticity. They're not about violating women's rights or the innocence of children."
Caputo also revealed plans to revert to their birth name, Keith, as they transition back to their authentic self. They reflected on their long-standing struggle with gender dysphoria, noting, "I can't even find it anymore. But I need to remove these 'fake boobs' for my happiness."
In a philosophical take on identity, Caputo remarked, "I see the body as beams of light traveling; we're all soul and energy." They elaborated that their experiences were not about becoming a biological woman, regardless of surgeries or appearances. "Even if I looked like I popped out of a female Sports Illustrated magazine, that will never make me a Mother Gaia with a womb," they declared.
Expressing pride in their journey, Caputo stated, "I've been through so much over the years. Gender dysphoria is one of the most uncomfortable experiences you can go through, and I'm just so happy it's over." As they prepare for this transformative shift, Caputo anticipates a future filled with freedom and authenticity. "I'm committing to being physically completely de-transitioned in 2025. I can't wait. I feel so free," they concluded.
Mina Caputo’s courageous declaration serves as an inspiration to many navigating their own identities and underscores the importance of personal authenticity in a world often fraught with misunderstandings.
