Severe Weather Forces BC Ferries to Cancel Weekend Sailings – What You Need to Know!

Due to an impending severe weather system, BC Ferries has announced the cancellation of several sailings across numerous routes this Saturday. Environment Canada has issued warnings of high winds and challenging sea conditions, prompting these necessary adjustments to the ferry schedule.
The transportation service stated, “We understand the importance of your journeys and are actively monitoring the weather to resume services as soon as it is safe.” However, they cautioned that further cancellations may occur if conditions do not improve.
Affected Routes
As of 4 p.m. Friday, the following routes will see interruptions:
1. Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay
Six sailings cancelled including the 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. departures from both terminals, along with the 9:40 a.m. from Tsawwassen and the 12 p.m. from Swartz Bay.
2. Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay
Four sailings cancelled, notably the 6:15 a.m. and 8:25 a.m. services both directions.
3. Tsawwassen to Duke Point
Four sailings cancelled, including the 5:15 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. departures.
4. Tsawwassen to Southern Gulf Islands
Five sailings affected, including: - 6:50 a.m. from Long Harbour (Salt Spring Island) - 8:55 a.m. from Tsawwassen - 10 a.m. from Sturdies Bay (Galiano Island) - 11:05 a.m. from Village Bay (Mayne Island) - 12:40 p.m. from Tsawwassen.
5. Comox to Powell River
Four sailings cancelled, with an additional two at risk. The cancelled sailings include the 6:15 a.m. and 9:55 a.m. from Little River and the 8:05 a.m. and 11:50 a.m. from Westview.
