On Monday, the Durham Regional Police Service’s Human Trafficking Unit conducted a targeted operation in the vicinity of York Street and Bremner Boulevard as part of an ongoing investigation. Officers identified a man suspected of unlawfully trafficking the minor girl and took him into custody without incident.

Subsequent to the arrest, police executed a search warrant at the man's residence. This led to the seizure of illicit drugs and cash, further complicating the situation surrounding the suspect.

Identifying the Suspect

The arrested individual, identified as Shaun Fairfax, homeless and residing in no fixed location, faces multiple charges, including trafficking a person under 18, benefiting materially from trafficking a person under 18, benefiting from sexual services involving a minor, advertising sexual services, permitting prohibited sexual activities on his premises, and procuring a person under 18. It is important to note that these charges have yet to be proven in court.
