Details of the Fraudulent Activity

According to the Toronto Police Service (TPS), the victim placed a series of nine orders for goods intended for various retail outlets across the city between September and December of that same year. However, despite these transactions, all goods were never delivered, resulting in catastrophic financial losses for the victim.

Arrest and Charges

On September 23, 2024, Bonnick was apprehended by law enforcement and now faces a total of 28 separate charges including ten counts of fraud exceeding $5,000, eight counts of making false declarations to obtain money, and ten counts relating to the possession of crime-related proceeds exceeding $5,000. She is set to make her court appearance on December 3, 2024.

Prior Legal Issues

This case isn’t Bonnick's first run-in with the law. Previously, she owned a West Indian grocery store located on Weston Road near Jane Street. Reports emerging from Jamaica indicate that she faced similar allegations of fraud there, where she is accused of defrauding a local businesswoman out of approximately JMD$3.2 million, or about $27,000 CAD.
