Upon arrival, they found the woman exhibiting obvious signs of trauma. Acting Staff-Sgt. Joanne Bortoluss reported that emergency responders attempted CPR on the victim before rushing her to a trauma center in Toronto. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Husband Arrested
The woman's husband, a 41-year-old man, is currently in police custody and has been charged with first-degree murder. The couple's two five-year-old children and an elderly woman were present during the incident but fortunately did not sustain injuries.

One neighbor, Ron Mohr, described the chaotic moments he experienced: "I woke up to flashing lights from what seemed like a million police cars. They brought out a woman and tried to resuscitate her, and I saw my neighbor being arrested, along with the children being led out of the house."
Another local, June Frances Broomer, expressed her shock, noting the neighborhood's generally friendly atmosphere, stating, “They’re very nice, all the neighbors, but I don’t remember him.” She described the occurrence as "scary," a sentiment echoed by many in the community.
