The chaos began when the suspects stormed into a jewelry store near Yonge Street and Levendale Road early Wednesday, using hammers to shatter glass cases and take off with a significant amount of jewelry. Eyewitness accounts reveal that during the robbery, an employee was assaulted, suffering minor injuries—a stark reminder of the violent nature of such crimes.

After the robbery, the four suspects—two adult men and two teenagers—managed to escape in a silver SUV. However, their freedom was short-lived. The YRP's Air2 helicopter tracked the stolen vehicle, leading authorities to an apartment parking lot near Highway 27 and Finch Avenue, where the suspects were spotted exiting the vehicle.

Tension mounted as the suspects were seen running towards nearby wooded areas, seemingly aware that police were in pursuit.
