In a harrowing incident on a hiking trip in Hawaii, an anesthesiologist is facing serious charges after allegedly attempting to murder his wife by pushing her off a cliff. Gerhardt Konig, 46, was arrested after his wife managed to escape the attack and subsequently detailed the chilling events in a restraining order petition.

According to court documents, the couple was celebrating a birthday on Oahu when the confrontation occurred. While hiking along a precarious trail known for its narrow ridges and steep drop-offs, tensions escalated dramatically. The victim reported that Konig initially pushed her towards the cliff before turning violent, further attempting to injure her with a rock and a syringe containing an unknown substance.

The situation took a shocking turn when Konig allegedly FaceTimed their adult son shortly after the attack, confessing to the attempted murder and expressing a desire to end his own life.
