Premier Danielle Smith didn't pull any punches this week, confronting Alberta NDP leader Naheed Nenshi over a critical decision: stand with Alberta or align with Justin Trudeau's federal government. Smith emphatically declared that Nenshi has made his choice—and it's with Trudeau.

"You’ve got a choice when you’re an opposition leader. You can side with Alberta or you can side with Trudeau. He’s chosen to side with Trudeau," Smith stated, expressing her discontent with the NDP's recent decisions.

This week, under Nenshi’s leadership, the NDP voted against Smith’s United Conservative Party (UCP) government's strategy aimed at countering Trudeau's cap on greenhouse gas emissions from Alberta's oil and gas sector.

The UCP sees this decision as a significant miscalculation by the NDP, with Smith asserting, "I would love to see the NDP finally stand up for Alberta and be on Team Alberta rather than Team Trudeau."
