After nearly two decades of captivating audiences, Steve Paikin announced he will step down as the host of TVO’s flagship current affairs program, *The Agenda*, this summer. The final episode is set to air on the last Friday of June, marking the end of an era.

But don’t think this is goodbye for Paikin! While he’s stepping back from the daily grind of anchoring, he plans to remain a vibrant part of the TVO family. He’ll continue to co-host the popular #onpoli podcast alongside John Michael McGrath, pen a weekly column for the TVO website, and showcase engaging discussions in the town hall series, *TVO Today Live*.

Exploring New Avenues

Paikin is also eager to delve into the untold stories of Ontario through his YouTube series, *Ontario Chronicle*. In his own words, “TVO has just been too important a part of my life to walk away entirely.” He’s excited to continue this journey, albeit in a part-time capacity.

"Anchoring a daily show requires a relentless commitment—seven days a week of research, guest bookings, and writing until late at night. If I wanted to tackle other life goals, something had to give."

With more time on his hands, what’s next for Paikin? He’s eyeing the possibility of launching new podcasts or even penning another book. Having served as chancellor at Laurentian University, he’s also interested in taking on a role at another academic institution.
