In a shocking turn of events, Stuart Zukerman, a family lawyer from Surrey recognized for his cheeky hockey-themed advertisements, has accepted the end of his legal career following a revelation of over two decades of sexual harassment in his workplace.

The B.C. Law Society reported that Zukerman will cease practicing law, resigning his membership effective November 30, and he is barred from seeking reinstatement in Canada for the next five years.

Zukerman, whose commercials often aired during Vancouver Canucks broadcasts with the catchy slogan, 'Call Zukerman before your spouse does,' has now found himself at the center of a serious misconduct investigation prompted by a formal complaint from a former employee of his firm, Zukerman Law Group.

The investigation revealed a disturbing pattern of behavior. It was found that Zukerman had fostered a sexually charged, hostile work environment where comments of a sexual nature – often comprising jokes, innuendo, and crude remarks about staff appearances – were commonplace.

Disturbingly, reports indicated that employees believed compliance with these inappropriate banters led to promotions and bonuses.

Among the many allegations, one particularly egregious incident involved Zukerman making unwelcome sexual advances to a female staff member.

In 2014, he sent her a letter expressing romantic interest and inquired about her leaving her family for a relationship with him. After being rebuffed, Zukerman persisted with inappropriate jokes and comments.

The revelations took a darker turn in May 2023, when Zukerman reportedly attempted to film another female employee beneath her dress.

The woman confronted him, demanding he delete the footage, and subsequently left the office, never to return.

Following this incident, three other female staff members also chose to resign, citing a hostile work environment.

This isn't Zukerman's first encounter with disciplinary action; in 2017, he faced scrutiny for inappropriate remarks about a client's spouse, and informal complaints had been lodged against him for years with little regard from Zukerman to amend his behavior.

As the investigations progressed, Zukerman expressed he was grappling with personal physical and mental health challenges, which he claims contributed to his misconduct.

In a bid for atonement, he is reportedly seeking professional help for these issues and has agreed to avoid being alone with any female employees during his remaining time at the firm.

This alarming news raises significant questions about workplace conduct and the protection of employees in law firms, prompting a broader discussion on accountability within professional environments.

It remains to be seen how the legal community will respond to such egregious behavior moving forward.
