After a three-month hiatus due to a change in ownership, The Cave, an iconic restaurant located on Eighth Street in Saskatoon, is poised to make a triumphant return this weekend, maintaining its signature brand and charm.

First established in September 1973, The Cave quickly became a local favorite, renowned for its unique prehistoric-themed decor and delicious menu offerings. The restaurant's distinctive atmosphere has made it a beloved fixture in the Saskatoon dining scene for over 50 years.

George Kosmas, a familiar face and the restaurant's manager for the past 25 years, expressed his excitement about returning to The Cave. "I’m thrilled to be back in the game and serving Saskatoon once again. We have a few hurdles to jump, but we’re expecting to be open this weekend with the same food, same menu, and same friendly faces that our patrons love," he stated during an interview on the CKOM Morning Show.

Kosmas disclosed that he has been in talks with the new owners after they reached out to him following the announcement of the restaurant’s ownership change. "They approached me about taking over the restaurant, and we struck a deal. It feels great to be back," he added.

In response to inquiries about staffing, Kosmas confirmed that he is reaching out to previous employees to welcome them back. "We’re in discussions with former staff to see who’s interested in rejoining us as we reopen," he said.

While there won't be an extravagant celebration or grand reopening event, Kosmas emphasized the restaurant's commitment to a smooth transition as they re-establish operations. "We’re just going to quietly open our doors and do our thing. We want to take our time to get back into the groove and serve our community," he mentioned.
