Sue White recalled receiving a devastating phone call from the hospital, informing her that Simone needed urgent brain surgery after consuming the contaminated vodka. "I had that phone call — I don’t know what it was, call it a mother’s intuition — but I knew that she was going to die," Sue shared with the Sunday Times. She embarked on a harrowing 16-hour journey to her daughter’s bedside, filled with fear and uncertainty.

Upon arrival, she faced the shock of seeing her daughter, previously full of life with long, beautiful blonde hair, being prepared for surgery after it was shaved off. Sadly, Simone’s brain function had irreparably deteriorated, and she died on November 21.
