The shooting occurred on Thursday evening around 7:30 p.m. near Upper James Street and South Bend Road East, where a confrontation between two vehicles escalated into chaos. Acting Det.-Sgt. Daryl Reid reported that gunfire erupted from a black Mercedes SUV towards a white sedan.

A Narrow Escape

In an alarming detail, one stray bullet shattered the back window of a nearby home on Allenby Avenue, narrowly missing the residents inside who were unwinding in front of the television. Thankfully, they were unharmed, but authorities noted that the outcome could have been catastrophic had the bullet deviated just a couple of inches.

Randahawa, an international student from India, was waiting at a bus stop when she was struck by one of the shots fired from the attacking vehicle. Chief of Police Frank Bergen expressed condolences to her family, emphasizing the profound loss felt by her loved ones.

"Harsimrat’s family sent her to Hamilton to forge a bright future, only to face the unimaginable: an empty seat at their dinner table and a void in their hearts," he stated.
