In an unfortunate turn of events, a man in his 60s has tragically lost his life following a trench collapse at a rural property in Milton. The incident occurred on a seemingly ordinary Friday afternoon.

Emergency responders received a distress call just after 4 p.m. regarding a missing resident at the property. Swiftly arriving on the scene, crews conducted a thorough search, only to discover the man trapped under approximately four feet of dirt.

Milton Fire Chief Peter Gatto confirmed that the trench collapse is believed to be the cause of the man's untimely death. The Mississauga Fire’s specialized trench rescue team was promptly deployed, bringing in five trucks to assist in the recovery efforts.
