According to the West Shore RCMP, they received the alarming call at approximately 12:50 p.m. The authorities have confirmed that both WorkSafeBC and the B.C. Coroners Service have been alerted and are currently involved in investigating the situation. While details are scarce as police focus on notifying the deceased's family, their statement conveyed heartfelt condolences to the man's friends and loved ones.

Meanwhile, another serious workplace incident unfolded in Nanaimo just over an hour later. At approximately 2 p.m., RCMP officers responded to an emergency at a construction site located in the 3700-block of Shenton Road, near Bowen Road. While specific information has not been released, the police confirmed that an investigation is underway, with WorkSafeBC also attending the site for their own assessment.

Paramedics were dispatched to the Shenton Road site at 2:09 p.m., sending both advanced care and primary care ambulances. Fortunately, there were no patients transported to the hospital from this incident, but the presence of the coroner indicates the severity of the situation.

These tragic events follow another significant workplace injury that occurred earlier this month in downtown Victoria. On September 7, crane rigger Kyle McIntyre was injured when a heavy load of reinforced concrete fell on him.
