Public Warning Issued!

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit has just issued a critical warning about potential measles exposure sites, urging residents to take immediate action!

Locations to Watch Out For!

If you shopped at Leamington's Real Canadian Superstore on April 10 or 11 between 6 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., it’s vital to check your vaccination status and ensure your close contacts are protected too!

Additionally, if you visited the Windsor Regional Hospital (Metropolitan Campus) on April 17 from 7:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., be aware that exposure could have occurred in several key areas: the main building lobby, lobby elevators, first-floor elevators, and third-floor outpatients.

Monitor Your Health!

Anyone who spent time in these locations during the specified times should monitor for measles symptoms for up to 21 days after potential exposure. Stay alert!

What You Need to Know About Measles!

Measles is a highly contagious viral infection that spreads through coughing and sneezing. While it poses a serious risk, children who have received two doses of the Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccine are typically well-protected.

Be Aware of the Symptoms!

Initial symptoms usually manifest 10–12 days post-exposure, starting with a mild to moderate fever, cough, runny nose, and red eyes. You may also notice small bluish-white spots inside the mouth.

A distinctive red blotchy rash usually appears 3-7 days later, beginning on the face and spreading downwards through the body, completing its cycle over five to six days. Don't take chances—stay informed and proactive!
