In a bold move that has sent shockwaves across the nation, Home Minister Amit Shah has commanded all state and Union Territory chief ministers to swiftly identify and facilitate the exit of Pakistani nationals residing in India. This initiative follows a brutal attack on April 22, which left 25 tourists and a local dead, killed by terrorists linked to Pakistan.

The Indian government has taken drastic measures, including canceling 14 types of visas for Pakistani citizens, effective April 27. These visa cancellations encompass business, conference, visitor, and pilgrim categories, while exceptions apply only to those holding long-term, diplomatic, or official visas.

Pakistani nationals currently on medical visas have received a brief extension but must exit by April 29. Following Shah's directive, Home Secretary Govind Mohan conducted a video conference with state chief secretaries, demanding stringent enforcement of these evacuation orders.

In addition to visa revocation, India has ramped up its diplomatic response, expelling Pakistani military attachés, suspending the longstanding Indus Waters Treaty, and shuttering the Attari land transit post.
