Urgent Health Alert: Possible Measles Exposure Locations and Free Vaccination Clinic

The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit (WECHU) has issued an urgent health advisory for residents who may have been exposed to measles at specific locations. The health department urges anyone who visited the sites listed below during the identified dates to closely monitor for measles symptoms for a range of 7 to 21 days following exposure. Symptoms include high fever, cough, runny nose, and a distinctive rash.

If you are immunocompromised, have a child aged 12 months or younger, or are pregnant, we urge you to contact the WECHU as soon as possible to discuss potential treatments. You can reach them at 519-258-2146 ext. 1420.

1. South Shore Christian Academy - 134 Mill St. E, Leamington - Tuesday, March 18 from 9:00 AM to 11:20 AM - Wednesday, March 19 from 8:45 AM to 11:00 AM

2. Windsor Neck and Back Care Centre - 5115 Tecumseh Rd East, Windsor - Thursday, March 20 from 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM

3. Erie Shores Family Health Team - 197 Talbot Street West, Leamington - Friday, March 21 from 11:15 AM to 2:20 PM

4. Adventure Bay Family Water Park - 401 Pitt St. W, Windsor - Wednesday, March 12 from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM

5. Erie Shores Health Care - 194 Talbot Street West, Leamington - Tuesday, March 18 from 8:35 AM to 11:45 AM

6. Kingsville Locations: - Erie Shores Family Health Team at 59 Main Street E, Kingsville - Thursday, March 20 from 3:20 PM to 5:40 PM - Malotts Guardian Pharmacy at 59 Main Street E, Kingsville - Thursday, March 20 from 3:20 PM to 5:40 PM

Important Vaccination Clinic Information:

If you were present at any of these locations and are unvaccinated, it is strongly recommended that you attend the Dedicated Measles Assessment Clinic at Erie Shores HealthCare. This clinic will be open tomorrow, March 27th, from 8 AM to 8 PM and will be set up outside the hospital in a mobile unit. Receiving the vaccination can significantly reduce the severity of symptoms, should there be an infection.
