Dianne Newman was a cornerstone of Vancouver media, spending a remarkable 19 years with CKWX. For 15 of those years, she captivated audiences with her morning and midday reports on 1130 NewsRadio, playing a pivotal role in launching the station’s all-news format in 1996.
Before her time at CKWX, Newman began her broadcasting journey at Mountain FM, serving the communities of Squamish and Whistler, and made waves at Vancouver’s 1040 KICKS station.
A Voice for the Visually Impaired
For the past 13 years, Newman lent her voice to Descriptive Video Works, where she diligently provided visual descriptions to empower and connect with the visually impaired audience.

According to her online obituary, Dianne passed away on April 1, leaving behind a legacy of "peace, dignity, and grace." She is hailed as a "shining light and a mentor" in the industry, known for her serious tone, incredible talent, and undeniable passion for her work.
