Bungie has officially announced Destiny: Rising, a free-to-play mobile adaptation of its popular sci-fi shooter franchise, in collaboration with Chinese publisher NetEase. Gamers can look forward to limited access during a closed alpha test on both iOS and Android devices starting November 1st.

This exciting partnership between Bungie and NetEase was first revealed back in 2018, with growing speculation in 2022 about a mobile version of Destiny. The result is Destiny: Rising, which offers players a fresh adventure set in an alternate timeline of the Destiny universe, taking place after the Dark Age.

In Bungie's own words, the game follows a narrative where "humanity has broken free from tyranny and begun to unite against alien forces determined to extinguish its existence." Players will join a new generation of Lightbearers, resurrected by mysterious entities termed Ghosts, as they endeavor to restore humanity’s future amid the tumultuous aftermath of war.

Destiny: Rising will feature a spacious shared world that encompasses a variety of landscapes, from the haven of peace to the treacherous icy metro of Jiangshi and the expansive deserts of the Red Sea Rift. The game includes single-player, cooperative, and competitive multiplayer modes, promising a rich blend of gameplay experiences. Some modes will feel familiar to fans of the franchise, while others will offer brand-new dynamics. Expect an enticing mix of Player vs. Player (PvP) and Player vs. Environment (PvE) content, including detailed campaigns and intense six-player cooperative strikes.

The game will introduce a diverse lineup of playable characters, featuring both beloved figures from the Destiny saga and exciting new characters, each equipped with their own unique abilities and captivating backstories. Players will have the option to experience gameplay in either first-person or third-person perspectives and can choose between controller or touchscreen controls – a testament to Bungie's innovation in mobile gaming, highlighted by several patents for touch-enabled controls filed in 2022.

As anticipation builds, gamers should stay tuned for more details as Bungie has yet to announce a full release date for Destiny: Rising. However, interested players can register for the closed alpha test now on the official website. Don’t miss your chance to be among the first to step into this new chapter of the Destiny universe!

Get ready to dive into an exhilarating new frontier this November!
