Capcom Responds to Outfit 4 Speculations in Street Fighter 6 Amid Online Rumors

2024-10-06

In a whirlwind of excitement and speculation, Street Fighter 6 fans are buzzing about the potential for new costumes as Capcom has found itself responding to recent chatter surrounding Outfit 4. The game, which initially debuted its first wave of new costumes—Outfit 3—back in December 2023, has seen limited updates since then, especially following the releases of Akuma, A.K.I., Ed, and Rashid in May.

The confusion began when a post by user UltimaShadowX on social media platform X/Twitter claimed to quote Street Fighter 6 Co-Producer Shuhei Matsumoto discussing the timelines for upcoming costumes. The post stated: “Despite the hurdles, we are very pleased with the reception to the third outfits! Outfit 4 for every character is on the way and is expected to come out sometime in late 2026!”

While it was intended as a humorous exaggeration—given that a wait until late 2026 for new costumes seems ludicrous—the post quickly gained traction and prompted numerous player inquiries directed at Capcom.

In response to the mounting confusion, Capcom took the unusual step of releasing an official statement over the weekend. The statement clarified: "Caution. This user has made posts that differ from or distort the content of the interview. We would appreciate it if you would take the official announcements as correct information. We have received a large number of inquiries about this matter in the last few hours, so although it is unusual, we would like to take this opportunity to make this announcement. We hope you will continue to enjoy Street Fighter 6."

Interestingly, this did accompany a genuine interview that took place at the Tokyo Game Show 2024 with IGN Japan, featuring Director Takayuki Nakayama and Producer Shuhei Matsumoto. However, the full details of that interview have yet to be released, leaving fans in suspense and seeking clarity on the future of character costumes.

While the absence of concrete information regarding Outfit 4 remains, it’s notable that Nakayama and Matsumoto did express their satisfaction with the reception of Outfit 3, noting it exceeded their expectations. Nakayama hinted at the desire to keep certain details under wraps, adding to the mystery surrounding the upcoming content.

In the meantime, Season 2 characters such as M. Bison, Terry Bogard, Mai Shiranui, and Elena are also set to receive Outfit 3 options, although their design details and release dates remain undisclosed. In a small end-of-year treat, players can currently unlock special Darkstalkers outfit colors for free in Street Fighter 6, but this offer is limited and won’t last forever.

As the anticipation builds and more players join the fray, stay tuned for the latest updates surrounding Street Fighter 6, as we continue to bring you the freshest news on costume releases and new content that Capcom unveils in the future. Will Outfit 4 be worth the wait? Only time will tell!
