Chilly Weekend Ahead: Hong Kong Set to Plunge to 12°C!

As Hong Kong prepares for an unexpectedly chilly snap, residents can expect temperatures to dip to around 12 degrees Celsius next Friday! While southern China basked in pleasant and dry weather this week, the northeasterly monsoon is set to sweep in, bringing a flurry of changes.

On the evening of January 5, 2025, Hong Kong's weather is expected to shift dramatically. Tomorrow's forecast promises predominantly fine and dry conditions, with cool mornings where urban temperatures will hover around 15°C. The New Territories may feel a little cooler. However, don't get too comfortable—daytime highs will reach only about 21°C, and northerly winds are expected to transition into moderate easterlies.

What's more, the chill won't be short-lived. Over the next few days, expect cool morning temperatures to continue as winds increase and clouds begin to gather. Light rain may be on the horizon as early as the end of this week, and Thursday will see a notable drop in temperatures, leading to those frosty Friday and Saturday mornings at just 12°C!

But that's not all—this shift is paired with significant temperature fluctuations, particularly in the inland areas, due to the dry northeast monsoon's influence. So, if you live near the coast, better brace yourself for a windier and cloudier atmosphere as we welcome the winter monsoon.

It’s time to dig out those winter jackets, Hong Kong! Stay tuned for updates and prepare for what could be one of the coldest weekends of the season! Will you be ready to face the cold?
